Thanks, that's pretty weird that it's not telling you critical battery before suspending. Could you follow the instructions at <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingGNOMEPowerManager#Getting%20DBUS%20info> to see which power management events your system is seeing when you plug in and unplug?
