sorry, I'd thought I had said it was reproduceable, because it happens every time:
I open the Places/Connect To Server, set the connection type to SSH and give a LAN address as the destination, then click the OK, the network folder then appears (iconified) on my desktop *and* Audacious opens with an empty playlist.
