snircher, we apologize for any confusion Launchpad is causing. The bug is not actually being marked as "Incomplete" on our end, but rather, it is being marked as incomplete for the upstream report system for Gnome. The information provided by Paul Broadhead appears to be very insightful and I wouldn't be surprised if it leads to identifying the cause soon. This bug has been a very difficult one to track down.
