Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
Nautilus currently requires that the NETBIOS name of the computer be resolved before it displays the computer. This is a HUGE issue because many users cannot resolve the address due to the fact that... 1. Some routers simply forward DNS requests to the ISP. 2. No Winbind installed. (no local resolver) I believe that we should simply display the computer and its shares, if we can find its IP address. This will remove the need to install winbind and/or having a local DNS server. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nautilus Nautilus currently requires that the NETBIOS name of the computer be resolved before it displays the computer.
