maybe different models are affected, as I said I added 3 songs and closed it
and it broke my  ipod.. it would not play songs. so I then:

1. rm ~/.local/share/rhythmbox/rhythmdb.xml
2. "add folder"
3. highlist list and drag and drop to ipod
4. wait for songs to be added
5. close program and eject ipod

when I did this in a VM of 10.04.1 it worked. in 10.10 it did not.
