Hi Jeff after download the cd ISO of ubuntu 10.10 from this page http://releases.ubuntu.com/maverick/ you can use this simple guide https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick to create a bootable usb of ubuntu and can try ubuntu 10.10 :)
