Seems I pinpointed the cause: this happens when I try to set sharing options for NTFS drive I have in my system. Today I reinstalled Ubuntu 10.10, and started adding features one by one observing Rhythmbox's behavior in-between. When I added string "usershare owner only = no" to the [global] section of the /etc/samba/smb.conf file and rebooted the machine, Rhythmbox window started freezing again.
Commenting the string in question or changing it to "usershare owner only = yes" has no effect - Rhythmbox window opens frozen and stalls the mouse. As I said above all I can do is force close Rhythmbox. I'm afraid I have to reinstall Maverick, for I see no means to reverse the situation. That's pretty frustrating, I had no problems sharing my NTFS drive in Ubuntu 10.04. I think it's a system-level bug and as such ought to be dealt with promptly. -- Rhythbox window freezes and stalls mouse https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660177 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
