Binary package hint: software-center

If I open Empathy, Empathy logs me in, I can close down Empathy, and then I
will _stay online_ - people can talk to me and see my status.
Yet in spite of this feature, Ubuntu forces me to Open Empathy to get online.
To get online, I open Empathy, close it down again. Wouldn't users find it more
straightforward to have the option of being signed in automatically?

** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

Ubuntu has the capability to keep me online while Empathy is closed, but still
forces me to open Empathy
