Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on
Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with
that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

Toshiba Portege R500 - 11z  Model nr. PPR50E-04X048EN under Ubuntu 9.10 when in 
Power Managemenet -> On AC Power -> PUT DISPLAY TO SLEEP WHEN INACTIVE FOR X 
MINUTES, baclight goes in and even after reboot it is still on! And for me it 
took 3 days to get it working!
