OK. I found out that rhythmbox is now inside the sound menu. Nevertheless, hit the play button (in the main gui or in the sound menu) and that's the last left click I can make. After that the left button becomes totally unresponsive.
I just discovered that unplugging and re-plugging the mouse brings it back.
