Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
Another bit of Evolution fun... I've noticed that since upgrading to 10.10, Evolution crashes randomly. Some times it's opening a folder, sometimes when clicking on Send on a new message, sometimes when marking a message as read. In the latter example, I saw today, Evolution would crash EVERY time I clicked the Read/Unread icon next to a message in one of my folders. I finally thought I'd try running strace and seeing if I could capture the system calls made at the time of the crash, however, when run through systrace, the crash did NOT occur, even though without strace, the crash occurred 5 out of 5 times when attempting to mark that message unread. So at a first guess, I am thinking that maybe there's some sort of race condition going on that strace is mitigating. I also attempted this before when evolution kept crashing while clicking Send on new messages (still does this too) and so I ran evolution for several hours through strace and never managed to get a crash. I DID, however, end up with a 40GB log file from strace :( I will look at running evolution through valgrind too and see if I can catch anything, but I'm not hopeful that this will be any different than when running via strace.
