Interesting.. I suppose you are connecting from a Maverick client? Which client are you using? I've got 2 i686 10.04 systems and I'm using: Xephyr :1 -once -query <hostname> and all I'm getting is a blank screen in the Xephyr window: xserver-xephyr 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.4
