Binary package hint: file-roller
PROBLEM
If a file or a folder has a % in its name, the "File Roller" archive
manager (how is one supposed to refer to it and how does one find out?)
will not add it to an archive. Moreover, it will not give any feedback
that the file has not been added.
HOW TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a file or folder named "%".
2. Right-click % and select "Compress".
OR
2. Select a number of files and folders, including %.
3. Right-click on these files and folders and select "Compress".
OR
2. Use the archive manager to create a new archive.
3. Click on "Add Files."
4. Select %.
In none of these use cases will % be part of the archive, nor will the
archive manager report that it could not be added (for whatever reason).
In the second use case, the archive will be created as normal and will
include all the other files and folders, but % will not be a part of the
archive (nor will there be any feedback to the user indicating that this
is the case).
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
Files and folders with special characters in their names will be
compressable using Nautilus' right-click menu. Failing that, the archive
manager will (at a minimum) inform the user that it is not possible to
compress them.
SPECULATION
There may be other special characters besides % which produce the same
results.
