I restored my home directory and downgraded back to the 2.32 stable
packages after verifying upstream 3.0.0 has this problem also on Natty.

Since I received the "Query" error in 3.0 at initial creation of the
addressbook, I re-tested 2.32 during a recreation of the addressbook
(remove, shutdown, add-back) and also got an invalid query error as the
first message. (Screenshot attached)
