Marcel, thanks for your attention.

It would be correct if it showed any symbol for decimal separator when
any of the (dot) keys were pressed (as it used to be). But now it only
happens on Natty, as explained (and it shows a comma, which is strange
but correct, given the Locale settings). On Maverick the (dot) keys are
disabled. It should not happen on an US International keyboard. It
doesn't happen with LibreOffice, or Terminal, this very window
(..............) or any other application.

Below my Locale settings:

~$ locale
LANG=pt_BR.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=en
LC_CTYPE="pt_BR.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="pt_BR.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="pt_BR.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="pt_BR.UTF-8"

LC_ADDRESS="pt_BR.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="pt_BR.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="pt_BR.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="pt_BR.UTF-8"
