Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Gnome-panel crashed when I was trying to extract a possibly suspect .iso

the panel restarted itself and the bug buddy popped up. when I close
bug buddy gnome-panel restarted itself and again failed with bug buddy
making another appearance.

this only effected the account I had been playing with the .iso in other
accounts worked fine

I eventually traced this problem to the recent documents .recently-used.xbel
when I deleted this file the panel would launch and be 'bug free' however as
soon as I opened a document .recently-used.xbel would be recreated complete
with the problematic entry

deleting .recently-used.xbel and then logging out gave me a working
system again :)

this was a frustrating time as my system became pretty unusable eg
alt-f2 was not available. I had to create launchers to get anywhere.

it would be good if this error could be caught and handled more
gracefully.

I think this may have been the problem entry
