i think its not a unity problem i have also seen it in the last ubuntu version.
the situation is that if we change the password from system setting and we 
follow all the steps of  changing password and at that time  the result is this 
that "password changed" but when we login again that we should enter the 
previous password means  that the password was not changed so that why we 
entered the previous password for login.
