I haven't seen this behaviour with the nvidia-current from the Oneiric repos. However, if I upgrade to the version 280.11 from xorg-edgers, terminal will not completely shut down. In fact, when trying to reboot my system, I get a warning message saying terminal is not responding and the computer just hangs, it will not shut down. I get this behaviour with both gnome-shell and gnome-panel sessions.
What makes this interesting, is that if I install the previous nvidia- current version from xorg-edgers (280.04), everything works OK.
