I'm experiencing the same problem. I've tried cleaning out all configurations files, and reinstalling the nautilus packages.
Here's some info: Nautilus 2.16.1 File system: encfs over top of xfs I have a .Trash folder in my home directory I can write to the partition that I deleted the files/folders from. I'm not bypassing the trash, I can even drag and drop to a window open to trash://.
