So this is the real bug, not the other way round. Anyway, I don't think the chances are high that anybody will fix this kind of relatively minor bugs in 10.04. People are already too busy with recent versions to backport such fixes to versions that are in maintenance mode. Users management has changed much in new versions, so it's not worth fixing something that has disappeared since then. Sorry.
