Matt,

My apologies for the confusion. My point was that I had this same issue on
12.04 that I have in 11.10.. It was my mistake in stating 11.04.

1. Current Version: 11.10
2. Yes:
[sudo] password for kevin:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:13:72:2d:f2:3c
          inet addr:192.168.1.23 Bcast:255.255.255.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:576 Metric:1
          RX packets:47213 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:40510 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:22090962 (22.0 MB) TX bytes:9744354 (9.7 MB)
          Interrupt:17

I'm also running 1 other machine configured through wubi running on top of
windows vista business and it shows the connection just fine. If you refer
to the question number in the original email you can compare the chipsets,
bridge etc to see if there are any differences that stand out. Both
machines are using the same network adapter "Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme
BCM5754 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02)"

Let me know if there is any additional information required. I work from
home and can perform any testing desired.

Thanks,
Kevin
