Workaround: With the package 'gnome-contacts' installed it is possible for me to open a chat window by pressing the little chat button appearing next to ones contact Chat ID (see attachment).
advice: In gnome-shell one can directly look for the contacts typing its name after prompting the search box. ** Attachment added: "gnome-contacts.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/958699/+attachment/3070598/+files/gnome-contacts.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/958699 Title: Empathy doesn't open chat windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/958699/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
