Thank you for your bug report, not sure where you read that "gnome- keyring is not supposed to ask for the password, even if automatic login is selected", but that's not true.
If the keyring could be unlocked by a programatic way without your input it would mean that any program could unlock it the same way and that your password keyring would be useless... You simply can't have a password that a software can "guess for you" and which is secure, those are just conflicting goals ** Changed in: gnome-keyring (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: gnome-keyring (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991003 Title: Even if the keyring password is same as system password, gnome-keyring asks every time on login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/991003/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
