Because time is pasing and we still affected by that bug, I suggest you
to make an update (or tell-us-how) to disable this feature until the bug
is fixed, and launch it when it proved stable or better.

Please note that i'm not the only one suggesting to disable that feature. One 
of the thing that I really love of Ubuntu is the recognition of filetypes 
despite it's file extensions. That was pretty perfect until that bug appeared, 
and that comes against productivity (as a design workshop we interact with a 
lot of jpg's)
and is beginning to give us money losses. I'm so preoccupated.

I reiterate that maybe is better to disable it until fixed, or instead put a 
"always ignore for that filetype" buttom.
