Isak - that is really only a workaround, since gvfs really should be loaded before thunar starts, and not called after. XFCE is written entirely in C, and unfortunately I am not yet skilled enough in the language to be able to fix things. Perhaps it would be wiser to ship a modified network.mount file with the xubuntu image to at least have a faster file manager out-of-the-box.
