No I have this problem with nouveau drivers.
Currently I have Ubuntu 12.10 with kernel 3.5.0-19-generic, but when I
selected resolution 1152x864 just to try, I could not go back to 1440x900, when
I select 1440x900 I get a black screen, the only thing I can do is reboot my PC
and when I login again I still get resolution 1152x864.
This happened after I had just installed nvidia-current drivers, just for
testing, and then removed them to go back to nouveau ones.
