The lock screen is handled by gnome-shell, so this is unlikely a gdm
issue. gnome-screensaver is only used in fallback mode (and Unity).


Can you reproduce the issue and then attach '~/.cache/gdm/session.log' (You 
willl need to switch to a VT and grab the file before restarting gdm/g-s or it 
will get overwritten)

Also you may want to try installing gnome-settings-daemon from
gnome3-team ppa, that will fix atleast one issue where the internal X
screensaver fires when it shouldnt
