I looked into it more. this bug only happens when switching workspaces.
one work around would be to make sure that you always have gedit on the
same workspace as your browser. another workaround would be to make you
you have the cursor where you are currently scrolled at. then when you
switch to you browser an back, scroll one notch, making you in a random
area in your text file, then push an arrow key, bringing you back to
where your cursor was.
