I'm sorry for bothering all the subscribers, but this bug still exists in Raring. As I can see from the blueprint https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/desktop-r-gnome-fallback , the keyboard layout indicator will not be rewritten “to be a proper indicator” within the Raring cycle. Thus, we will have this long-living bug for another half a year unless it will be fixed. At the moment, Raring shows promise to be quite good and stable release. Maybe it is a good time to finally fix this old annoying bug to increase the overall stability and usability of Raring?..
