I'm closing this bug since there's been no activity in 3 years and it's
not clear that there was a bug in gnome-terminal. Incidentally GTK 3.10
has by default disabled the automatic menu keyboard shortcut
functionality mentioned in the previous comment although interested
users can still enable it if they like. That means it's unlikely that
someone will accidentally trigger whatever caused this bug.

I think Ubuntu 14.04 LTS will include GTK 3.10 but it's still too early
to tell for sure.
