Another workaround is to change X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase from Panel to Applications: 1) sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/gnome-panel.desktop 2) Locate line - X-GNOME-Autostart-Phase=Panel 3) Comment it out by adding # in front of that line or change Panel to Applications
