The hang condition, could that be something like a deadlock via the bluetooth communication that can be broken only by terminating the bluetooth connection? Maybe the computer is waiting for something (new data?) without timeout, but the counter party still wants previous data to be acknowledged before sending new data but the computer cannot do this while waiting for new data? As I didn't have a look at the code, this is all speculation.
