Public bug reported: This has happened to me now for the second time, that I have been using nautilus to rename files etc quite happily until suddenly when I try to rename a file the cursor starts flashing in and out of visibility (may or may not be related), and then I find that I am unable to rename it, even if I restart nautilus. So no matter what I type or try to delete with, not key seems to make any impact to the file's name. I can't even use the arrow keys to move back and forth through the file name.
