Public bug reported:

The trash bin icon is shown as containing files, yet the nautilus Trash
window shows no files. The "Empty" button is enabled though. When
pressed, the confirm dialog is shown - upon confirming, nothing is done
though - the nautilus Trash still shows no files, the "Empty" button
stays enabled and the Unity trash bin icon stays full. Attaching
screenshot of the issue.
