UPDATE II: more details for the previous UPDATE. It seems that when I activate screen lock VIA THE KEYBOARD (Ctrl+Alt+L), I DO NOT get the "go to sleep and reboot" phenomenon to occur. When I use THE MOUSE to click on the "services" icon (upper-right of screen, next to the "Date/Time" display), scroll down to the "Lock Ctrl+Alt+L" line and click on it, the screen lock activates THEN within 10 seconds the display DIMS, then BLANKS, my display shows "Entering power save mode - no signal detected", then the "go to sleep and reboot" phenomenon occurs. NOTE: when I moved the mouse Just As The Screen Started To Dim, the display returned to normal brightness and the phenomenon did not occur.
AGAIN: I have DISABLED the "Screen Off after xx minutes" and "Require password when waking from suspend" function/option in "System Settings, Brightness & Lock". Right now, my "workaround" for using Screen Lock is to USE THE KEYBOARD, not the mouse, to enable the function. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-screensaver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611162 Title: 16.04.1 LTS: using "screen lock" requires reboot to use computer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/1611162/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
