I have just tested on my host 16.04 system and it appears as though the
issue goes away when I switch from back from Numix to Adwaita in terms
of my GTK+ theme. However when I switch back to Numix within a few
seconds the issue comes back, so it seems only to be present when Numix
is set.

I am unable to reproduce it in the 16.10 VM, though perhaps this is an
issue specific to the gnome3-staging PPA?

** Also affects: numix-gtk-theme (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
       Status: New

** Summary changed:

- Strange grey border appeared on top and right edges of screen
+ Strange grey border appeared on top and right edges of screen when using
Numix GTK+ theme

** Description changed:

I don't know how long it's been there for as it's hard to notice, but I
noticed it a few days ago, there seems to be a grey border on the top
and right edges of my screen in the same kind of colour as the
login/locked screen for GNOME. As can be seen in the attached screenshot
(I have edited the image to replace all but the bits I want to point out
  with white):

+ As I have stated in my comments, this issue only seems to be present
+ when setting Numix as my GTK+ theme. No other themes seem to have the
+ issue. Though I cannot currently reproduce it in my 16.10 VM, so it's
+ possible that it's an issue with the packages in gnome3-staging.
