Looks like a compulsory_for_desktop tag is missing then: https://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/chap-CollectionData.html#tag-ct-compulsory_for_desktop Or it's set incorrectly. In any case, this tag should be in effect now that Ubuntu is running the full GNOME, so I don't know why GS still allows you to remove key components like GS itself.
