Ah yes, my other comment about the current position is that it's particularly annoying when you've (sensibly) put /home on a different partition: by picking a different session, you can get a simple graphical login working (albeit without menus) *BUT* there's no way to change to root in order to delete files anywhere other than your /home directory... and deleting files there will have no effect.
