It appears neither X nor Wayland can figure out my monitor's subpixel order:
$ xrandr --verbose | grep Subpixel Subpixel: unknown Subpixel: unknown Subpixel: unknown Subpixel: unknown Subpixel: unknown $ weston-info | grep subpixel subpixel_orientation: unknown, output_transform: normal, Yet Xorg is using subpixel rendering showing in the screenshot of comment #1. Sounds like someone is just guessing HRGB when run on Xorg, and refusing to guess when run on Wayland (hence using the safe default of greyscale which appears more blurry). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1714459 Title: Shell panel font is blurry under wayland To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1714459/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
