OK, I had to go back and think about this for a moment since I am no longer on 17.04. I have tested this issue on both Ubuntu as well as Ubuntu Bodgie, both on 18.04 and the same thing is happening with Nautilus as the default.
To duplicate the issue, take the desktop file below, save it to the desktop as calendar.desktop. Then, right click on the file. You should be able to open it with gedit. However, if it loads, gedit is empty or contains the last buffer from the previous file edited. You can't set permissions on the desktop file with a right click e.g. set it executable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1681269 Title: Launcher Type=link, can not be opened with other application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1681269/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
