I open gnome-calculator in basic mode.
Remember: I have locale LC_NUMERIC=it_IT.UTF-8 where decimal separator is comma.

I perform all following operations using the numeric keypad.
i press the canc/dot key (bottom right) and then '5*7'
in the entry box i see '.5x7'
i hit enter
in the history box i see '.5x7 = 3,5'
so i entered dot and calculator interpreted the dot as comma - see my attachment

in the entry box i try to enter '4.5' but i see only '4' the canc/dot key does
nothing
in other words the canc/dot key act as 'dot' only in 1st position.

if i hit the num lock key the num-lock LED lights up and pressing the
canc/dot key i see a comma.

if i set locale LC_NUMERIC to US gnome calculator works fine
