I wonder if these messages in ShellJournal.txt indicate the issue:

dashtodockContainer is on because it needs an allocation.

Gjs_ubuntu-dock_ubuntu_com_docking_DashSlideContainer is on because it needs an

If you disable 'Ubuntu Dock' in the extensions app (and log in again),
does the problem still happen?
