I have the same problem trying to connect to a Samba Share running on a fresh feisty Xubuntu install.
What I did: 1. Fresh install of Xubuntu on server 2. Set up a SMB Share via Shared Folders 3. Add users via smbpasswd 4. Attempt to open the shared folder on either of two other laptops running feisty In all cases, I can see the shared folder in nautilus, but attempt to open it result in "The contents of the folder could not be displayed" Checking logs shows some sort of Permissions Error NFS sharing works fine, though mounting is sometimes slow (30 seconds) SMB sharing from the two Ubuntu (not Xubuntu) laptops also works fine.
