Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 26.04, the system does not provide any Xorg
session option in the login screen.

Observations:
- /usr/share/xsessions/ directory is completely missing
- Only Wayland sessions exist under /usr/share/wayland-sessions/
- No gnome-xorg.desktop file is present
- Installing/reinstalling gnome-session, ubuntu-session, and xserver-xorg does
not restore Xorg session entries

Expected behavior:
- System should provide a selectable "GNOME on Xorg" or "Ubuntu on Xorg"
session in GDM

Actual behavior:
- No Xorg session is available in the gear icon
- Manually creating an Xorg session entry makes it appear in GDM
- However, selecting it results in a login loop (session immediately crashes
and returns to login screen)

Additional details:
- Wayland session works normally
- Xorg is installed (xserver-xorg-core present)
- journalctl shows:
  "Dependency failed for [email protected]"
  and
  "Dependency failed for [email protected]"

This suggests GNOME cannot start under Xorg even though Xorg is
installed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Upgrade system to Ubuntu 26.04
2. Log out and check GDM session options
3. Observe that no Xorg session is available
4. (Optional) Create manual Xorg session entry
5. Attempt login → results in login loop

Impact:
Icons/Components flickers of some windows like system Monitor and Files. Users
cannot use GNOME on Xorg at all, even as a fallback for Wayland issues (e.g.,
graphical glitches, driver incompatibility).
