**Title:** Applications become unresponsive after locking and unlocking
the screen on Ubuntu 26.04
**Description:**
Since updating to Ubuntu 26.04, I have been experiencing a reproducible
issue after locking and unlocking my laptop.
**Hardware:**
* Dell laptop
* Intel Core Ultra processor
* Ubuntu 26.04
**Steps to reproduce:**
1. Boot into Ubuntu 26.04.
2. Log in normally.
3. Open one or more applications.
4. Lock the screen.
5. Unlock the screen and log back in.
**Expected result:**
Applications should continue working normally after unlocking the session.
**Actual result:**
The desktop remains visible and the mouse pointer moves normally. Existing
applications remain open, and I can sometimes open additional applications, but
none of the application windows respond to mouse clicks or keyboard input,
making them unusable. The only way to recover is to reboot or restart the
graphical session.
**Frequency:**
The issue occurs consistently after locking and unlocking the screen since the
recent update to Ubuntu 26.04.
**Additional information:**
The problem began only after installing recent system updates. It appears to be
related to the desktop session after resuming from the lock screen rather than
to a specific application.
