I can confirm that this issue is still reproducible on a current Kubuntu 26.04 installation.
After logging in through SDDM, the following message appears in the journal: ```text sddm-helper[4335]: gkr-pam: unable to locate daemon control file ``` System information: * Kubuntu 26.04 * KDE Plasma session * Display manager: SDDM Installed package versions: ```text gnome-keyring 50.0-1 gnome-keyring-pkcs11 50.0-1 libpam-gnome-keyring 50.0-1 sddm 0.21.0+git20250502.4fe234b-2ubuntu3 sddm-theme-breeze 4:6.6.5-0ubuntu0.1 kde-config-sddm 4:6.6.4-0ubuntu1 ``` The message appears during the login process, before the user systemd instance starts `gnome-keyring-daemon`. Relevant journal sequence: ```text 10:35:38 sddm-helper[4335]: gkr-pam: unable to locate daemon control file 10:35:39 systemd[4252]: Started gnome-keyring-daemon.service - GNOME Keyring daemon. 10:35:39 gnome-keyring-daemon[4330]: GNOME_KEYRING_CONTROL=/run/user/1000/keyring ``` After startup, `gnome-keyring-daemon` is running normally: ```text systemctl --user status gnome-keyring-daemon Active: active (running) ``` The keyring functionality works correctly after login. However, the error-level journal message is generated on every login. The timestamps suggest that `pam_gnome_keyring` is trying to access the daemon control file before `gnome-keyring-daemon` has been started by the user systemd instance. I have attached Apport-generated diagnostic data collected from this system.
