I don't believe my issue is related to Send & Receive. I just did three Send/Receive's in-a-row, and they all moved along quickly and as would be expected. Also, I'm not sure that Evolution is actually using up significant CPU cycles, on my computer, when it locks up.
I have seen other bug reports that sound more specific to your issue, Alex, in the Gnome bug tracker and perhaps here in Launchpad as well.
