I think it should be possible to achive this with a little hack. You can configure gdm to log in on first startup and then place a little script into gnome-session startup which starts xlock. To get this behavior only on the first log in you can additionally touch a file in /tmp (presumed /tmp is cleaned on startup). The script I have in mind would look something like this: --8<-- if [ ! -e /tmp/first-boot-done ]; then touch /tmp/first-boot-done exec xlock fi -->8-- Can't try it out at the moment, but I think it could work.
