Got any more information on why exactly they decided to do this? Getting at the user data folder in Windows is quite a bit more convoluted than in Gnome because the file manager is rooted at "My Computer" where as Gnome has a prominant link to the Users Home (and ~ works in various places too). > so Vista will actually look much more like how we set up GNOME *now*. ie... > > /home/jdub/ > Documents/ > Photos/ > Music/ (Photos is an abbreviation, albeit a very common one. Unless you have very specific reasons for using it Pictures seems like a safer and more generic term. It wasn't an incidental choice.) > ... and so on. Either way it will be great to finally have a few good defaults to help encourage beginners to think about organising their files a little bit more (and not use Desktop/Documents as a dumping ground, like i tend to do leaving me with a big mess of files I'm forced to sort out later). - Alan H. _______________________________________________ desktop-devel-list mailing list desktop-devel-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/desktop-devel-list
