I've been waiting for HAL 0.5.6 to be released for the last few weeks, as this hal has important fixes that 0.5.5.1 does not. Seeing as http://freedesktop.org/~david/dist/hal-0.5.6.tar.gz was released just last night [ http://freedesktop.org/~david/dist/hal-0.5.6.tar.gz ] there will be a release today.
